Historic Barn Fund

Exciting News! We are in the home stretch of the construction process to re-purpose an historic 1800’s barn which will be the new home of the Mill at Naga Bakehouse.

The expansion of this regional gristmill will positively impact the agricultural economy in southern Vermont and will exponentially increase the small-scale production of nutrient dense, organic, whole grain flour.

Our barn restoration project will be featured on Discovery + as part of the Magnolia Network’s program, “Restoration Road with Clint Harp”.  You might remember him as the dumpster-diving, reclaimed-wood loving carpenter on HGTV’s “Fixer Upper”.  In Restoration Road, Clint searches America for incredible historic barns that are in need of restoration, while exploring their origins and dreaming of their future.  In our episode, you will see the transformation of an old barn into a working gristmill.

Stay tuned for the broadcast date later this year.  Here are a few photos of the barn to whet your appetite!

We are looking for financial support to engineer and build systems that can move grain from field to mill to market. Our vision is to utilize olde world techniques gleaned from gristmills of the past.  We will used ropes, pulleys and levers to mechanize the inner workings of the barn.

We’re so excited to be playing a pivotal role in the reconstruction of the grain chain in our region, connecting the farmer, the miller and the baker, all while “re-barning” the rural landscape.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 to bring this building to life.  Be part of the project!  As a thank you, we’ll send you a gift box with assorted swag so you’ll look your finest while chomping Vermatzah!

Help us preserve this historic barn, and thanks!
